Volunteer Opportunities

If you are interested in volunteering, or have questions about volunteering, please call us at (513) 878-2300.  Currently, The Cincinnati Eye Institute Foundation has the following volunteer opportunities available:

Foundation Business Office

Weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Volunteers assist with filing and additional light office duties.  No prior office experience is required, but attention to detail and the ability to keep information confidential is a must. Computer and database experience is helpful.  Training is provided.

Community Outreach Program

Hours and locations vary depending on program schedule
Friendly and outgoing volunteers who enjoy interacting with diverse groups and who are comfortable working with senior citizens are a perfect match for this program!  The outreach program provides free educational lectures on eye conditions and vision health.  The program also provides free eye screenings at senior centers, retirement communities, and churches throughout the Greater Cincinnati area.  Two types of volunteers are needed:

  • Non-medical volunteers assist screening participants with registration and consent forms.  After a screening, volunteers make follow-up phone calls to program participants to make sure they have made an appointment with an eye care professional if their screening results indicated a possible problem. Volunteers also assist with light office duties, including some data entry.
  • Medical volunteers who have training and experience in ophthalmic testing are needed to assist with the community eye screenings.

Roselawn Eye Clinic

Clinic is open one to two Saturdays a month from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
The Roselawn Eye Clinic is a free eye care clinic for low-income uninsured and under-insured adults from the Greater Cincinnati region.  Volunteers must be able to work with diverse groups and have a good eye for detail.

  • Non-medical volunteers help patients check in for their appointments, answer phones, assist patients with their paperwork and forms, and perform light office duties.
  • Medical volunteers are also needed.  The clinic relies on volunteer ophthalmologists and optometrists who are willing to provide a comprehensive dilated eye exam.  The clinic has modern, up-to-date exam equipment and each doctor will have one to two technicians to assist them.
