Welcome To The Cincinnati Eye Institute Foundation

Cincinnati Eye Institute (CEI) cares deeply about the vision health of all individuals living in the Greater Cincinnati region. In 2006, our doctors established a nonprofit organization, The Cincinnati Eye Institute Foundation, to preserve and improve sight.

With a focus on the local community, The Foundation offers programs and services to maintain a lifetime of good vision:

  • Eye Care for Vulnerable and Underserved Populations
  • Community Outreach & Education
  • Research
  • Education for the Next Generation of Eye Care Professionals

At The Cincinnati Eye Institute Foundation, we achieve our mission through partnerships with community agencies, educational institutions and other non-profit organizations. However, it is through the generous support of individuals like you that our programs and services are made possible.

New for 2012! I-CARE Partners Program:  This is an opportunity for your business to provide preventive eye care for your employees. Let The Cincinnati Eye Institute Foundation provide an educational lunch and learn all about EYES. We also provide onsite vision screenings for a nominal fee.  Please contact Amy Jones for a list of programs as well as pricing at 513-569-3643.

Eye Doctor Presents at Llanfair Retirement Communty

Dr. Jerone Gabis, Resident Gene Reilly, Resident Bill Lohnet and Dr. Richard Kerstine

COLLEGE HILL, OH (FOX19) – Llanfair, a continuing care retirement community serving southwest Ohio, welcomed Dr. Richard Kerstine of the Cincinnati Eye Institute Foundation when he presented, “The Aging Eye” at Llanfair Retirement Community on Friday, December 16 at 11 a.m. in the campus center great room.

Llanfair’s Shared Vision Support Group for low-vision residents co-sponsored this program to reach out to persons with vision problems who live in the community.

Low vision is one of the most common changes affecting people as they age, bringing with it many questions, treatments, and adaptations to maximize functional abilities.

During the presentation, Dr. Kerstine reviewed common eye problems affecting older adults including macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, retinal problems, and more. He also discussed recommendations for prevention of vision loss and tips for maintaining eye health, including nutrition, exercise, and cardiovascular health.

Dr. Kerstine has been associated with the Cincinnati Eye Institute for many years. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist and graduate from the University Of Louisville School Of Medicine with internship and residency at Cincinnati General Hospital.

For three years, Llanfair Retirement Community has been hosting a free low-vision support group, Shared Vision, meeting the first Wednesday of the month, 11a.m. – 12 Noon. Members share their experiences of low vision and adaptations they make that help maintain their lifestyles and quality of life.  Resident, Marge Rowley, who attended

Dr. Kerstine’s presentation and member of Llanfair’s Shared Vision Group said, “Low vision affects many of us.  The Shared Vision Group at Llanfair helps us stay independent and has become a great resource for me.  I love the meetings!” Marge goes on to say, “Dr. Kerstine was a great speaker.  I really enjoyed the program and learned a lot!”  The Shared Vision group is facilitated by psychologist, Dr. Jerome Gabis, who specializes in the care of older adults. The group is open to low-vision persons who do not live at Llanfair. No reservations required.
